Week 1 & 2 Discussion Questions

Sarah Strong

People every day use communication whether they realize they are or not. Language and symbols are a huge part of communication. Language, such as how we speak, (example: English, French…) sign language (symbols using our hands), or just a simple smile are a means of communication. As soon as somebody acknowledges what we have said, shown, or done, it becomes communication.

Without communication, people in the world would not understand each other or even know what to do. It is important for people to communicate between each other to better the world, who we are, who we become, and how we lead others or help others become better people. Cultures, media… none of that would even exist without communication.

I thought your answers to the discussion questions were right but I feel like they are very simplified. I felt like you could have branched out of a few of the topic such as how media effects our communication or more example of how people use communication with symbols and language.

I agree with mmulligan31. What you said was definitely correct, but you could have elaborated more. Nevertheless, it has made think about how huge language and communication are in our everyday lives. Even when we don’t realize we’re communicating, we are!

I think that this was, while simplified, spot on! And going about these answers so exact made it easy to read and understand. You made your points and supported them clearly. I do agree with hinchea though you did make a great point about even while unaware we are always communicating. Nicely done!
